2016 Subaru Forester Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

The 2016 Subaru Forester has been awarded the 2016 TopSafety Pick Award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Forester earned the top score of good, and overall superior in the five IIHS crash tests of small overlap front crash, moderate overlap front crash, side safety, roof strength, head restraints, and seats.

In their detailed report, IIHS had completely dummy testing showing that the driver space was well maintained, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior of 10 cm and maximum intrusion of the upper interior of 5 cm.

Other measures taken from the dummy crash test indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of severity.

The dummy’s movement was controlled, showing the head loaded in the frontal airbag. Which stayed in front of the dummy until rebound.

The 2016 Subaru Forester also comes well equipped with two rear seating positions with complete child seat attachments (LATCH) hardware. It also has one additional seating position with a tether anchor only.

Other safety measure include, but are not limited to;

Side airbags: front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags

Rollover sensor: designed to deploy the side curtain airbags in the event of an impending rollover

Driver knee airbag: a separate airbag in the lower instrument panel designed to minimize knee injuries in frontal crashes

Electronic stability control

Antilock brakes

Daytime running lights
