The Redesigned 2015 Subaru Outback shown in NYC


The new redesigned 2015 Subaru Outback was just released at the New York Auto Show yesterday. This highly anticipated new model is set to hit showroom floors this Summer.

Engine and Mechanics


The engines will remain the same from the outgoing model with the 2.5 liter four cylinder engine and the the 3.6 liter v-6 engine available. All 2015 Subaru Outbacks will now feature X-Mode, Hill Descent control, and Hill start assist to augment Subaru's symmetric all-wheel drive.

All new Outbacks will now come standard with a lineartronic CVT, keeping in line with the rest of Subaru's lineup. This will offer an estimated 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, with 28 mpg combined in the 2.5l engine. These figured are up from 24/30/26 in the outgoing model.

The new Outback also features an active grille shutter to help improve fuel economy. The Outback will feature electric power-assisted steering and improve aerodynamics.


Style and Design


The all new Outback features an updated design to follow the design ques in the rest of the Subaru lineup. The redesign features a new front fascia with hexagonal grille and a smooth one piece bumper. The Outback also features new optional low beam HID headlamps and optional signals in the side mirrors.

The Outback also features new dimensions which offer passengers almost 3 additional cubic feet of room and 1 cubic foot of cargo space.


Safety


The new model features new front seat cushion airbags to aid during frontal collisions. All models come with a rear view camera. A new rollover sensor will deploy side curtain airbags when an imminent rollover is detected.

The Outback is now equipped with Subaru's rear vehicle detection system. This system features blind spot detection, lane change assistance, and rear cross traffic alerts.

The new Outback will also features the latest version of Subaru's EyeSight driver-assist system. This system uses stereo camera technology to integrate adaptive cruise control, pre-collision breaking, and lane departure warning. With these systems the Outback is expected to receive an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating.


Technology


The 2015 Subaru Outback has been upgraded with a 6.2 inch screen. This system will now feature AM/FM Stereo, HD Radio, Single Disc CD, Single touch control, Starlink smartphone integration, Pandora Radio integration, iHeart radio integration, and iPod control capabilities.

The new infotainment system will have SMS text message reading. The system will link to a 576 Watt harmon-kardon radio system with rear subwoofer. This system offers better sound with less energy consumption.
